Competitor Price Monitoring
Competitor price and stock monitoring service for Shopify brands (open-source scraper)

Startup cost: Low startup cost (proxies and a small server, about $40/month, plus lead data)
What It Is
You use a free open-source web-scraping framework (Scrapling, run with help from Claude Code) to check five competitor websites for each client every week. Prices and stock levels go into a Google Sheet, and the client gets an alert whenever a rival drops a price or sells out. The target clients are Shopify and direct-to-consumer brands with 50 to 500 products, $1 to $10 million in yearly sales, and at least three named competitors. The suggested price is a $500 setup fee plus $300 a month.
The Pitch
The creator says this scraper keeps working when sites change and gets past bot blockers, which he says older scrapers struggled with. He estimates 10 clients would bring about $5,000 in setup fees and $3,000 a month for roughly 10 hours of upkeep, found by cold-emailing founders a screenshot of a rival's price drop.
Who It’s Best For
Someone comfortable with spreadsheets and basic technical setup who is willing to cold-email e-commerce business owners.
The Truth (as we see it)
Competitor price monitoring is a real, established service that e-commerce brands do pay for, and the open-source tools named are real. The income figures are the creator's own projections, not results he shows. Getting clients depends entirely on cold email volume, and scraping other sites can run into terms-of-service and blocking problems that need ongoing maintenance. Paid price-monitoring software already exists, so you are competing on service and setup, not on the data alone. The creator sells a paid community (AI Operator Academy) and pitches it in the video; he says he is not affiliated with the lead-search tool he recommends.
