Layered Easter Empty Tomb Decor
Making layered wooden Easter empty-tomb decorations with a cross and a backlit cave opening
Video published Apr 2, 2026 by JASCOgoods
Startup cost: Low startup cost if you own basic tools (jigsaw, large Forstner bit, belt or orbital sander, pin nailer; 1x8 and 1x6 scraps, stain, a small LED light) (our estimate; the video doesn’t give figures)

What It Is
You cut three freehand hill shapes from 1x8 and 1x6 scraps, stack them, drill a cave opening through the front layers with a large Forstner bit, and add a wooden boulder for the stone and a distressed cross cut from a 1x3. The creator shapes everything on a belt sander, uses water-based stains so it can be finished in one day, and backlights the opening with a small LED or battery tea light behind vellum paper and a printed Jesus silhouette. The layers are glued and pin-nailed together. He says no tape measure is needed.
The Pitch
The creator presents it as a popular build that you can make your own with a personal twist, made from scrap wood in a day. He suggests variations such as a sliding stone that opens on Easter morning to show 'He is risen.'
Who It’s Best For
A woodworker or crafter with a jigsaw and sander who wants a quick seasonal product for Easter shoppers, church groups or Christian gift buyers.
The Truth (as we see it)
The video is a build tutorial and gives no prices, listings or sales numbers, so whether these sell is untested here. Demand is concentrated in the weeks before Easter, so you need to list early and expect slow months otherwise. Each piece is freehand, which suits a handmade look but makes matching batches harder. He warns never to use a real candle inside because the wood could catch fire. You pack and ship every order yourself.
