You build a 36-inch shelf from a 1x8 top, two jigsaw-cut corbels and a 1x4 backboard, joined with 3/8-inch dowels, with keyhole slots spaced 16 inches apart so it hangs on wall studs, and five hooks screwed into the backboard. The creator compares hooks from Amazon: wood pegs at $0.43, cast iron at $1.90, horseshoes at $2.80 and railroad spikes at $5.60 each, and notes similar hooks cost about $0.35 each on Alibaba with a 500-piece minimum, roughly $175. On Etsy he shows similar racks at $57 for five pegs, $78 for 36 inches, $140-$219 with fancier hooks, and up to $340. He points to one seller with 1.7K sales in two years and a five-month-old shop with 208 sales of rustic coat racks and shelves.
The Pitch
The creator calls it a high-profit, low-cost build that is selling well right now. He says nicer metal hooks let you charge more than sellers using wood pegs, and that buying hooks in bulk cuts your cost per piece. He also points out that good listings, with a hanging video, color choices and size options, help explain why some sellers get steady orders.

The Truth (as we see it)
The sales counts and prices are other Etsy sellers' public figures, not the creator's own results, and the shop totals don't tell you how much of each shop's sales are coat racks. Construction lumber at big box stores is often warped or cracked, as he shows, so plan for waste or better boards. Water-based stain gave him blotchy results on a large piece. A 36-inch shelf costs real money to ship, so decide whether you charge shipping or build it into the price. A 500-hook bulk order is only worth it once you are selling steadily.
