Buy a domain naming a well-known regional product (the guest bought a Vidalia onion domain at auction for about $2,100), then approach growers who don't want to deal with direct-to-consumer sales and offer to build and run the online store for free. The partner farm handles boxes, climate-controlled storage and packing; you handle the website, marketing, social media, sales and customer support. The guest has run this on a handshake deal for 10 years using WordPress, Shopify and ShipStation.

The guest says many farmers find shipping to consumers "the biggest thorn in their side," so a partner who takes the online side off their hands is welcome, and the farm's existing packing and storage mean you never touch inventory.

Partnering with a producer who fulfills is a smart, low-inventory way into food e-commerce, but it depends heavily on one partner and on a perishable, seasonal product, and customer support was heavy enough that the guest says it nearly broke him. The video gives no revenue figures for this project. The interview is with a guest on the host's highlights channel; figures are the guest's own and unaudited, and the projects took years to build.
