What It Is
Spot topics where people keep asking "where is this near me?" and Google Maps answers badly; the guest found his first idea in the comments of viral TikTok thrifting-haul videos. Use a keyword tool to find searches with good volume and low difficulty, and look for a "bounty," a small mom-and-pop site already ranking that you can outdo. Build the directory on WordPress or Webflow, organize the location data well, wait for it to rank, then earn from display ads (he uses Mediavine's entry program) plus a $19 Canva PDF sold on one site. His three fully built directories get about 70,000 to 90,000 monthly visitors and earn about $2,300 to $3,000 a month, and he says he hasn't touched them in six months.
The Pitch
The guest calls directories as close to passive income as it gets: there are countless niches where search demand outstrips good answers, and life events like moving or graduating suggest new ones.
Who It’s Best For
Detail-oriented people comfortable with SEO tools and data cleanup who can wait months for rankings.
The Truth (as we see it)
Niche directories are a legitimate SEO business, and the guest's modest, specific numbers are more believable than most. Rankings take time, display-ad income per visitor is small, and search changes (including AI answers) can cut traffic without warning. His "hands-off" period follows a lot of upfront research and building. The guest teaches this in a paid community, and the host's channel promotes related offers.
