Expertise-Based Coaching Business
Coaching or consulting on what you already know, found through content and sold on Zoom calls
Video published Sep 10, 2026 by Omar Eltakrori
Startup cost: Near-zero cost (a Zoom account and a content platform such as YouTube) (our estimate; the video doesn’t give figures)

What It Is
You turn a skill or experience you already have (for example nutrition, real estate sales, audio recording or helping babies sleep) into paid one-on-one coaching or consulting delivered over Zoom. The guest, business coach Graham Cochran, lays out a simple sequence: pick one content platform such as YouTube, make every piece of content for one specific person (often your past self), and end with a call to action to book a call. On that call you offer custom, bespoke help rather than a pre-built course, letting "the calls be the curriculum," and you price by the value of the outcome rather than by the hour. Client wins are recorded as testimonials and stories, and the material can later be packaged into a group program.
The Pitch
The guest says coaching and consulting is one of the most "effortless" businesses because you can charge high fees for shortcuts you already know, without doing the work for clients. He argues that whatever comes easy to you is what to sell, and that you do not need anything built before you start: just content, a booking link and Zoom. He describes landing his first roughly $50,000 client a month after deciding to charge premium prices.
Who It’s Best For
People with a proven skill or personal transformation they can explain clearly, who are comfortable on camera and on sales and coaching calls.
The Truth (as we see it)
Selling expertise as coaching or consulting is a real and low-cost way to earn from home, and starting with custom calls before building a course is sensible advice. The high fees and results mentioned (a $50,000 client, a $9,000 nutrition program as a buyer) are the speakers' own accounts and are not typical for beginners; most new coaches charge far less and take time to build an audience. The model depends on scheduled client calls, sales conversations and showing up on video, and coaching quality and claims are unregulated in most fields. Much of the episode is mindset and faith-based money talk; the host repeatedly promotes his own paid Content to Cash Challenge and the guest promotes his book.
